Some more art mail

I made another batch of collaged mail art. This is the last batch that still stems from my call for recipients a while back, so they are all taken already. It feels good to be able to send out a card to everybody who asked for it.

I'm not good at keeping up a regular correspondence with a few people, nor am I any good at doing those themed swaps that a lot of people are into. It's just too much like homework, haha

What I do love is to just make a batch of cards every now and then and have people to send them to. It makes me happy that people want to receive them and yes, sometimes they also send something back, but that's not the main reason I do it. I just love making these little collage pieces.

Here is each card seperately:

Now that all the original takers have a card I am thinking of a way to keep a sort of mailing list going where people will randomly receive a card from me if I make another batch. I will get back to you all on that when I have figured out how I want to do that.

I am curious though if anybody would be interested in such a thing. It would simply mean I put you on a list and in due time you would receive a card and at some point much later in time you would receive another one when it was your turn again. No promises on frequency or type of cards. Just kind of a surprise mail. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

For now I wish you all a wonderful and artsy day!

    1. I'm sure plenty of people exist who would not care for mail art. Not anybody WE know of course, but still....;-)

  5. Your cards are so beautiful and original. I wonder if you ever gave any consideration into showing us how you create your cards. I have never seen anything like them. They are like looking at mixed media journal page.
I would love to get a card anytime. How do I get my email to you with my address?

    1. Hmm...I don't really consider them that extraordinary technique wise, just cutting and pasting really. But I'll think about doing a step by step when I make another batch. I'll do a post later on how I want to set up the mailing list and what to do to get on to it.

Komt eraan.

  12. Ok Carin. My heart is saddened right now because I missed out on this. I'm not sure how that happened, but maybe I can get in on some future card give-a-way. Your cards are wonderful, and I think your idea of the list to receive some now and then is also. I always look forward to seeing what you've created......Linda E.

  14. I love my card, Caatje, and am afraid that I don't keep up with mail art correspondence the way that I would like to. Surprises in the mail box are ALWAYS delightful, and I would like to be better about brightening other's days too!

    1. It's why I don't want to start up a regular correspondence with just a few people. I would keep feeling pressured to mail something and feel guilty if I didn't do it. So this seems like a more doable approach for me. We'll see how it goes.

  15. Hi Caatje, I love your idea of having a surprise mail list, if you decide to do it I would love to be on it. I got one of your cards and it hangs on my wall where I do my art. Eventually I will incorporate it into one of art journal pages. Thank you for all that you share on your blog, it's like I am with you where ever you go!
