From the Fodder Book

This book was initially meant to be filled with work inspired by the book 'Journal Fodder 365', but as always I found working with prompts and assignments is just not my thing.

So now the book is basically becoming a vessel for what I call 'watercolour nonsense'. That's just doodling with watercolour. I love doing that.

Recently I also started adding collage to these paintings and it's opening up a whole new batch of ideas for patterns that are a combination of different materials. Can't wait to see where it all will lead to.

Anyway, here's four pages of wonderful watercolour nonsense! :-)

  2. Love where you are going with it. I too have tried and tried but find I am just not a "prompt" kind of artist, so I usually quickly abandon them. Journal Fodder 365 is a pretty amazing book for inspiration, though.

    1. I like the book as well and their other book too, but indeed: me and prompts just don't go together.

  3. Fun stuff. I too have difficulty with a lot of prompting. Some is more open ended and I can do it but others want me to spill my guts so to speak and I don't do that. I have trouble being a daily kind of journaler too. It's good to try some of these things so we know what we like and what we don't though. I enjoy your watercolor doodles and designs.

    2. I have no problem so much 'spilling my guts', but it has to be initiated by ME and not some line in a book or online. And mostly it is done with writing, more than with art. Art with me is more about the love of colours, shapes, lines and materials.

  5. As always, I love the patterns! Have you seen the thing the Journal Fodder guys do with joining circles and lines? I can't remember what they call it, but there is a You-Tube of it. Maybe it's called web connect? Anyway, Rachel Mims has some on her blog. Intense.
