Sketchbook Challenge April

Before I start this post I just want to give you all a really big hug and say thank you so much for all your wonderful responses to my last  post. You confirm what I already knew: you blogsy people are the coolest people! ;-) I'll keep you posted from time to time on how things are progressing, but today we will go back to the artsy stuff, okay?

As you may know I'm participating in the Sketchbook Challenge to...well...challenge myself a little from time to time. It's a challenge where a theme is chosen every month to play with in your sketchbook.

As you may also know I'm usually way behind on this challenge. I know, it's only one theme a month and I still manage to fall behind. It's a rare talent I have indeed!

Anyway, the theme for April was 'spirals' and I managed to do four pages in my Studio Book with that (in May, but let's not be picky shall we?).

Here they are:

Most of these were done with a brush pen and watercolour paint. The second and third also have some elements in Pitt Big Brush Marker in them. I like the last two pages the best.

You won't be surprised to know I still have to start with the May challenge which is 'bowls' and doesn't appeal to me all that much, but the one for June does, because it's 'garden doodles' and I do love to draw imaginary flowers.

I'll let you know as soon as there's any progress on either of these themes!

Wishing you all a wonderful and artsy Wednesday!

    1. Thanks April. I love spirals and swirls and am always drawing them, so this was an easy one for me. With two of them I wanted to make a 'spiral of spirals', haha.

  2. Love your spirals...they're also one of my favorite things to draw. And flowers are right up there on my list, too but I'm with you on bowls...not so interesting.

    1. I actually love bowls in real life and have a nice selection of them, but artwise? Mwah... ;-)

  3. Ah, spirals...they are the BEST doodles around! You made me laugh about getting behind on a challenge with just a single theme...trust me, I'm right there with you! Thanks for sharing your pages!

  4. I like your doodles. I was so far behind I realized more than a year had passed since I'd even looked at the Sketchbook Challenge blog! Have fun with the bowls. Turn them into doodles like your garden ones or change the colors from reality to anything you want or try drawing them all nested and looking at them in different angles. Do you have a bowl that is a family heirloom? Just some ideas. The garden doodles sound more fun to me too!

    1. It's so easy to let things slide and time just goes way too fast doesn't it. It's the reason I stay away from all those daily or weekly challenges most of the time. I still have no idea what to do with the bowls. I'll probably just draw some of my own or something. We'll see...

I appreciate each and every comment. They make me really happy. I don't like spammers though and that's why the word verification is turned on. I know it's a pain, but I hope you understand.

I try to respond to all comments by directly replying in the comment section, but please understand that sometimes this may take some time. Know that I read them all and that they make my day.
