Quartets

After doing a whole lot of single pattern drawings on the iPad I wanted to try doing a few small series.

The idea was to make four drawings in the same colour palette and the same digital brushes. Those four would then together also form a grouping that I like to call a quartet

So here are my first two quartets and the eight drawings that they consist of:

All these were done with a digital pencil brush. The first quartet is my absolute favorite, I love the colours and the pattern drawings it consists of.

These series take just about forever to make. My type of drawing is not for people who quickly want to scribble something onto paper and move on to the next page. I am always a little surprised that my restless nature finds so much solace in these types of drawings, but it does and I'm al the more lucky for it.

Hope art (or another wonderful pastime)  is giving you some well deserved peace of mind and wishing you a wonderful and artsy day.

A Fine Morning

I enjoy pretty much all my walks, but sometimes you find yourself out along the Wadden Sea and the North Sea and the light is just magical and the clouds are amazing and low tide makes everything look extra beautiful.

I had such a walk a few days ago and of course I took some pics.

I can tell you that these pictures still don't do the real thing justice, but I hope you enjoyed them anyway.

Hope your are going out and about and finding something stunning to look at and wishing you a wonderful and artsy day.

The Black Book

Journals and sketchbooks with black paper seem to be coming into fashion lately and I couldn't resist buying one. I have done some digital patterns on a black background and I really liked the effect, so I wanted to try doing some on black paper. To help me with my patterns I bought a dotted bullet journal.

I have been playing in this journal with gel pens and coloured pencils, mostly as part of my morning art routine. Here are my first tries:

I'm sorry about the glare in some of these pics. I do my morning art pretty early and now the days are getting shorter I need to take the photographs in artificial light and I have also found this black journal to be much harder to take a good picture of.

I really like the effect of coloured pencil on this paper and as you can see I have become fascinated with colour gradients. Those are also a good way of using all the pencils in your pencil box by the way. ;-)

Hope you are trying some new surfaces for your art and wishing you a wonderful and artsy day!

Digital Patterns

Another bunch of mosaics and patterns that I drew on my iPad with Procreate.

Drawing these is so relaxing and calming, almost even more so than on paper. They take a lot of time so patience is key and that's good for me somehow. Working on them quiets my ever busy thoughts. There is no rush possible, you just have to slow down.

While drawing I moslty listen to podcasts and audiobooks, although a lot of these were also done while having a cup of coffee somewhere after a long walk. I like how each drawing that way is a long process consisting of scattered pieces of time. In that way they are a kind of story in themselves, an experience almost more that a piece of art. For me as the maker at least. :-)

Hope you are enjoying something slow and calming in your life and wishing you a wonderful and artsy day.

Walking Pictures

Just some photographs I took during my many many walks across my island. I'll just let them speak for themselves, because when it comes to beautiful landscapes words really aren't necessary.

Hope you are taking in some beautiful sights in your area and wishing you a wonderful and artsy day.
