From the Pattern Book

I was thinking the other day that maybe I like drawing patterns so much, because they are the ultimate art for a controlfreak.

Think about it: everything gets put in a neat order in exactly the way you want it. A nice clear repetition of shapes and colours.

To me life (and art) is often like a puzzle that I cannot solve. But my patterns? Those I have fully under control! ;-)

  1. I wonder if making patterns is a way to access the unconscious, nonjudgmental part of your mind? That's what happens when I make patterns, I think. My hand just moves without my thinking about it. I like your triangles with circles on top -- reminds me of a very abstract crowd of people.

    1. There's definitely something meditative about drawing patterns. I find it very relaxing and pleasurable. I have to smile at the 'crowd of people' you see in that one drawing. I hadn't noticed and now I can't 'unsee' it. :-)
