Okay this is a bit of a silly post, but I'm so happy with this little thing that I just have to share it.
After I came home from work today I did my chores and then had a sudden inspiration to clean up my studio a little. Now cleaning up is not something I am often inspired to do, so it's better to just go with it when the occasion rises ;-)
Now, I don't really have a before picture of my worktable as it looked today, but here's a picture of what it usually looks like when I'm working on something:
Now imagine it twice as bad and you get the idea of what the place looked like.
Let me be frank and say that a studio in itself should not be a tidy place in my opinion. I mean, that looks nice and all, but to make stuff, especially mixed media, means you need supplies and tools around you at hands reach and with me that means that things start to pile up not only on the table and the little rolling drawers, but on the ground as well. A very clean studio in my view is a studio where no work is being done.
That being said, if after a certain amount of time I don't clear some stuff away I might one day not be able to get inside anymore, so ... a quick sweep of my studio does help to keep things...ehm...manageable.
Now a couple of months ago I bought a new table cloth for my main work table and I hadn't gotten around to putting it on yet, so I thought I might as well do it now, now the amount of things on my worktable were still somewhat within limits. So here's how it looks now:
I don't know if you can see it, but it's a dark blue table cloth full of little babushka's. I know it's silly, but looking at it makes me so happy! I like how colorful it is too and it totally fits with all the other colorful childlike things I have around my studio. Maybe I should just dub it my 'playroom' ;-)
