Grid drawings

It seems lately I mostly prefer to do my art on the couch with my feet up and a sketcbhook on my lap. So of course I am drawing a lot of grid patterns. I am after all seriously addicted to them.

Here are some I finished recently:

All of these are done in my Moleskine XL squared book which is filling up quite nicely and I am already in the back of my mind thinking of it's successor, even though it may yet be a while before I need one. Just the idea of having to buy a new sketchbook fills me with anticipation.

These drawings take forever to finish. A filled up page is 1728 tiny squares which in drawings like these I all have to colour in separately. If anything else would be so time consuming I would lose my mind, but with these patterns I have no problems at all. The human mind is a strange thing.

Hope you are out there doing something that doesn't make you lose your mind and wishing you a wonderful and artsy day!

  1. I can understand your addiction. You are the Queen of the grid patterns. They keep getting better.
    Thanks for the update.

  2. I love the 2nd one. It would make a gorgeous quilt!

  3. Love them all but especially the 1st one - love those colors together in the grid!

    1. I love how everybody has a different favorite! I like this one a lot too.

  4. I'm laughing out loud - they are beautiful! And I'm kind of glad to hear you say they take forever - I know all about that, and the blanket is based on a grid layout that only had 546 squares - less than a third of these big ones!!

    1. I have this idea in the back of my mind to try something with pieces of felt or paper on a bigger surface, but the sheer volume of the pieces is really intimidating to me. :-)

I appreciate each and every comment. They make me really happy. I don't like spammers though and that's why the word verification is turned on. I know it's a pain, but I hope you understand.

I try to respond to all comments by directly replying in the comment section, but please understand that sometimes this may take some time. Know that I read them all and that they make my day.
