Watercolour Mosaics

I love painting mosaics in my A4 Moleskine watercolour book. There's something really soothing about filling in simple shapes with colour and even in drawing the shapes with a ruler and a circle template. It has something to do with focus and precision and, yes, control. I may have said it before, but this kind of art is perfect if you are a total control freak!

I also think it calms the mind if your head is racing. I even use it for that on purpose sometimes. My head is always full of ideas and thoughts and sometimes you just need a break from yourself. That's a good time to grab my ruler and mechanical pen and start drawing a grid and then colouring it in with a small brush and the really good watercolour.

Here are some pages I've done lately:

It's also a really good way to try out new colour combinations. My favorites in this batch are the second and the third one. They just work somehow.

I'm curious if you ever use your art just to calm your busy mind or to get some focus. Let me know about it in the comments if you like.

Wishing you all a wonderful and artsy day!
