Pamdoodles

In my last post I told you about how I found the Creative Bug site and how I am enjoying some of the online classes available there. What I didn't tell you is the reason I found it in the first place. It was because one of my art journaling heroes, Pam Garrison, was doing a class there past August. I had always been curious about her process so that's why I joined.

Pam's class is a lot of fun and it really inspired me to try a whole new way of doodling. Basically it's doing scribble drawings, colouring them in with paint and then doodling on top of them with pens. The cool thing about her process is that no matter what you do you will have something originally yours. Unless you really try there's no way to copy the teacher, which is what I like.

Of course I went my own way even more by not using paint for colouring, but markers and my style of doodling itself is mostly very different from Pams. But still: kudo's to her for the inspiration and the idea for this type of doodling that I will now forever refer to as 'pamdoodling'. ;-)

Here are some of my first try outs that I did in my journal:

I loved doing those and I love how they turned out.

Then I experimented in a moleskine:

I wasn't too excited about that one. I didn't like that the outline of the drawing was done in a lighter colour than the different coloured in shapes. Also you really can't tell very well that I used metallic gelpens for the doodling on top and I had hoped that that would be a really cool effect. Oh well, you can't win them all. ;-)

Then I decided to do a bigger one on a loose sheet of  paper:

That one I absolutely love! I'm finding I like it when the drawn basic line is in a thick black marker and just to doodle in black and white on top of the colours. So I'm slowly finding my own way to do these and I'm pretty pleased with that.

Hope you enjoyed this peek at my pamdoodles and as always I wish you a wonderful and artsy day!
