The Texel Slideshow is about to begin!

Hello my blogsy people!

I am back from Texel and have been back to work for the past week also. In fact I even worked extra this week, so I haven't had time to do a report sooner, but I'm going to make up for that in the coming week.

I had a wonderful time on our neighbouring island, but I definitely did not have enough time. The Dutch Wadden Islands are all very different in size. There's the small ones like my island Vlieland and the island Schiermonnikoog. There's the medium ones, like the islands Terschelling and Ameland and then there's the big one which is Texel.  (There's also some uninhabited ones, but I'll just skip over those, haha.)

When I visited the other islands I could stay there for many weeks also, but at least after one week I had a bit of an idea of what's there and what I feel about it. With Texel I feel I only scratched the surface. But what I did see I mostly did love!

I stayed in the beach town of De Koog which is very much a touristy town in the summer and was rather quiet now. I think if I were to stay there in the summer it would drive me bonkers. What was cool about it is that it's indeed close to the beach and it has all the handy supermarkets, take-outs and bus connections this vacationing walker could possibly need.

I stayed in a nice apartment right next to the town center, which means there was little traffic, but everything was just around the corner. I am really jealous of the Texel people, for a lot of the big chain stores and supermarkets are available right on the island. This may not seem like a good thing if you want to get away from that stuff, but when you live on one of the small islands you can really sometimes miss a big supermarket or drugstore that has a huge selection of products to offer.

The apartment itself was made for four people, so big enough for just me. It had everything I could possibly need including a beautiful bathroom and a comfy couch. The beds were very comfortable too, but there were only four singles, which made me wonder how couples in love would like it. ;-)

The weather was very changeable, but I did get plenty of opportunity to go on plenty of walks and do plenty of photography. And as you all know by now, that means there will be a slideshow on this here blog for the coming few posts. In this post you get to see the apartment I stayed in, but the next three posts will be all about the island itself. I hope you will enjoy the trip!

For now I wish you all a wonderful and artsy weekend. It's good to be back!

P.S. Yes, I kept a journal too. I just need to print out a bunch of photographs to complete it. When it's done I'll be sure to show that to you too, promise.
